Summer fashions

Colour is the big thing for this summer - the brighter the better... Most are bright block colours so you will probably see me sticking to classic designs - I may spend a little more but they last in my wardrobe for years (so long in fact I need another one for storage). Trendy items I generally try and pick up cheaply, and in this case it will be a splash of colour.

There are some fabulous shoes in solid bright colours as well as multi-coloured. Animal prints are also on trend - this is one that can be OTT if you wear too much - a splash of animal print is however great (this includes shoes). Florals are also very in - nice and bright and contrasting blocks of colour.

Heels vary - from ballet flats to stilletos and everything inbetween - the biggest on trend shoe style would have to be the Espadrilles with a wedge heel.

It looks like we have a fun colourful season ahead x

Millinery

I must say that I did actually like Princess Beatrices hat that she wore to William and Kate's wedding - anything that is a bit different is sure to be noticed. A classic outfit and different headwear is a winner in my book.

Beatrice's milliner is now to be a judge at the Flemington Racing Carnival on both Derby and Melbourne Cup days.

Spring racing is here....

Megan Gale on Wednesday, launched David Jones spring racing fashions - have a look at the attached link for her tips...

I do like matchy matchy with my outfits... that may be because I tend to like classic styles... not really sure about that on.

My 2010 Ballina Cup outfit - Im in the black and white, a home-made dress and jacket, Christian Louboutin shoes (the flower on the shoe matched the fabric) and my stunning hat created by www.juliecaseymillinery.com.au

I made the finals but due to the speakers not working in the members marque (!@#$%) I did not hear that the final had been brought forward.... little consolation that I was told that I would have won when I did arrive. Watch out tomorrow ladies - 1920's style and a pale salmon colour.

Sarah Jessica Parker

I was thrilled to hear via Hamish and Andy's show that SJP is going to be gracing our shores with her style and elegance for Derby Day on 29 October. As a guest of Crown Casino SJP was said to be  "an ubiquitous New York fashion icon and her attendance at the Crown Oaks Day, traditionally ladies' day, will add to the international cache of the day" .

I will be watching her on television as alas, no Flemington Carnival for us this year...

Peep-toe shoes

Who doesn't love peep toe shoes and strappy sandals? I particularly love this style of shoe, but there are times (particularly the races) where pantihose is appropriate - what is a girl to do? One mustn't make a faux pas and wear regular pantihose.... thats where toeless pantihose come into play. They almost look like thongs that go between your big toe and next toe. Sometimes Hollywood tape (http://www.hollywoodfashiontape.com.au/)
is required to keep it in place with strappy shoes. Voodoo and Platinum Bare have great toeless pantihouse at about $17 per pair - I was thrilled to discover that Kmart now have a range made by CLio called No Toes Pantihose and at around $7 a pair I am testing them this week.

makeup sale

Priceline have a sale at the moment where if you spend more that $29 on revlon you get a free lip colour to the value of $27.95 - I needed foundation which I normally buy on line, but in this case I also needed a lipstick so I actually saved money buying retail. Ends 12 September 2011.

A great source of sale catalogues is http://www.lasoo.com.au/ where you can search any product and it will list where it is on sale.
